Setting the Stage – The Stour Music Festival

Building strong and long-lasting relationships with clients is something we’re proud of at CWraight Removals Kent. Over our 70-year history as a removals company, we’ve worked with numerous companies and organisations to assist with removals in Kent and beyond.

The Stour Music Festival, a celebration of early music held annually in late June, is an event particularly close to our hearts. We’ve assisted with the transportation of staging and equipment for the acclaimed event for over 50 years. During this time, it’s been possible to maintain a fantastic working relationship with the festivals volunteer team. So, when they asked for a little more help from us in 2017, we couldn’t wait to get started.

A way to say thank you

This year at C.Wraight & Partners we are celebrating our 70th year in business. This success wouldn’t be possible without the support of loyal customers – such as the festival – looking for removals companies in Kent. The Stour Music Festival asked on this occasion if we could assist with the physical tasks of stage erection and set construction, as well as delivery and storage of their equipment.

The festival is a charity run completely by volunteers, from ticketing to logistics and catering. Having such a long working relationship with the festival committee, and as part of our 70th-anniversary celebrations, we offered to do the work in 2017 free of charge. This was our way of saying thank you for the festival’s support and for the magnificent work the volunteer committee do in putting on the popular event

The Stour Music Festival

The Stour Music Festival is set in the beautiful church of All Saints Boughton Aluph, a fine example of a medieval church. Renowned for its superb acoustics and situated in the heart of the Kent countryside, the venue is perfect for the festival. As the church sits in a historic graveyard, it was important for us to work respectfully while bringing heavy equipment and vehicles on-site in preparation for the event.

Erection of the stage was overseen by one of the festival organisers, who we worked alongside throughout the installation. All staging had to undergo strict safety checks to ensure it was suitable to hold large groups of musicians and choirs. Our team worked methodically and safely as always, ensuring all work was up to standard.

The stage is set

Over the course of a week, the festival welcomes music lovers from far and wide. Early music is performed by artists of international calibre and renown, and in 2017 the festival was blessed with stunning weather, attracting over 3,000 visitors. Once the festival was over, it was our job to dismantle the staging, carefully pack and then store it. All the equipment is then ready to go for next year’s festival.

Working with charities, businesses and homeowners is all part of the job for C.Wraight & Partners. We love a challenge and carry out every project with the utmost care and attention.
